Mark Anderson, from Charlotte, North Carolina, still can’t believe his recent purchase of a 1972 LS5 coupe. “I just bought it at the recent Corvettes at Carlisle in august,” he says. “I am still in a daze from the whole experience. I continue to walk out to the garage just to reassure myself that it wasn’t a dream!” Mark explains that he went to Carlisle to check out 1970-72 Corvettes but didn’t intend to actually buy anything because of the more than 500-mile drive back to Charlotte. But when he spotted the Mille Miglia Red ’72 and talked the owner down on the price, Mark found himself on the road south in a big-block coupe with 4-speed, air conditioning, all-power, and AM/FM stereo. “The Corvette made the trip back without a hitch. My backside and right leg (hot tranny tunnel) didn't fair as well, but it was definitely worth it!”
