Fifty-three year-old George Powell, from Clearwater, Florida, who says he’s dreamed of owning a Corvette since he was 17, finally threw practicality out the window to purchase a Dark Smoke Metallic 1989 Corvette coupe. We’ll let George tell the story: “I had always wanted a Corvette, but the practical side of life always interfered. Then my wonderful wife, Jennifer, told me it was time to act on my dream. After some serious searching, I found the ’89 at The Toy Store in Largo, Florida. It was marvelous, with just 57,000 miles. At this stage of my life, and driving in the great Florida climate, the car and I are pretty much inseparable. I had the chance to take two weeks and drive from Clearwater to Idaho and back. While the infrastructure in America is somewhat in need of attention, it is an experience I’ll always treasure. Jennifer refers to it as my ‘bonding experience!’”
