Replacement front shocks 1 Year, 1 Month ago
Working on 1993 corvette with FX3 suspension. One front shock has broken gear on top. Replacement shocks (bilstein) obtained from Eckler and also obtained both front actuators. Install shocks and actuators, vehicle now shows service suspension and codes 17 and 21 (slow actuation) are present. Have tried new suspension control module, but still get same codes. Codes not present before replacement. Actually obtained OEM actuators and get same codes. Original good shock sets code also. GM tech assist not helpful, bilstein tech assist doesn't have info. Is there anyone else that has had similar issue?

Did the GM tech look at the car through a Tech 1? I would look at it through a scanner and see what the scanner is picking up. I don't see how something new would cause this especially now that the old parts are also causing it. The only thing I can think as a remote possibility is that the gear on top of the new shock is too tight to turn and the actuator is having a difficult time moving it.
Thanks
Justin

Justin, yes we are using the tech 1 to utilize repair info. The new shocks top gears feel the same as the old. I have even went so far as to checking a 1991 part because the delco short number is the same as the 1993 part and the actuator and control module is same part number but the OEM part number of the shock is different.

Lets see if this works. I attached the schematic and a worksheet to go through to try and diagnose the problem, I hope this helps.
