temp. gauge 7 Months, 1 Week ago
I have a 1976 vette with a 383 stroker engine. dart iron heads, headders, elderbrock alum. intake MSD ignition. I had a high temp. reading on my gauge in the dash. I replaced the sending unit which is located in the goseneck on the intake manifold. Did not solve problem. Bought a new gauge, installed, still no joy. New gauge showes 230 deg. actual temp is 180. Have tried mixing different gauges and sending unites all combos. show 40 degrees hight. What now Ollie???

Might Not Be Your REAL Problem,i.e.My New Overbore Engine Had Phenomenal Hi-Heat Problems-CALIFORNIA!

{{Look For These Big Heat Causing Problems-Irradic Temperature Gauge Readings }}

Temperature Thermostat Defective-Replace With 180 Degree Hi-Flow Thermostat!

Radiator Cap Defective-Wrong Type-Replace With 13 Lb. Not (Or Try)18 Lb.!

Water Pump Defective-Replace With Hi Flow Water Pump!

Fan Clutch(If Have)-Replace With Flex Blade Stainless Steel 10,000 rpm Fan!

Loose Fan Belts...Collapsed Hoses...Radiator Clogged Restricted...

Timing - Distributor To Far Advanced!

I Can Name More Causes But,The Above Are Most Common...

The Above Is What I Call "CHEAP INVESTMENT" Save Yourself Future Problems!

Etal: 2nd Photo Is 1 Month After New Engine Installed--Ignition Problems
(Defective M S D Coils-Cause Missing) Also Cause Hi Temperature Readings At Temperature Gauge, i.e. Timing To Far Advanced,Rings Not Totally Seated,Hood To Close To Engine Or Vents Blocked, Etc.!

We are using a thermometer designed to sence temp. by placeing in contact with engine, or other parts, radiator etc. also you can wrap your hand around the upper hose and feel that the temp is no wear neer 230 which the gauge is showing.
