67 corvette temp gauge not registering right temp 6 Months, 1 Week ago
Installed new gauges in the cluster and a new temp sending unit in the manifold now the temp guage will just barely register above 100 degrees. I know it has to be hotter than that. any suggestions how to check this.

Did you use teflon tape. If so the sensor requires a good ground and this could be the problem.

I checked the sensor outside and manifold for continuity. I think I used some pipe dope . but it shows it is grounded to the manifold. I read in several part magazines that there are usually 2 one like original and a aftermarket. I bought new gauges for the car when I did the gauge cluster. I do not remember which sender unit I ordered at the time. I will pull the sender out this weekend and make sure that I do not have any tape or pipe dope sealing it.

Re:67 corvette temp gauge not registering right temp 6 Months ago
ok I spoke to a guy at CC and he told me to pull the wire off of the sending unit and short it to ground. If it pegs the needle then the gauge is good the problem is in the sensor. I do not want to have to put a adjustable resisitor in . Does anyone make a sending unit that will work right?
been on the internet looking at other chat lines and have not gotten a straight answer. This is a new gauge bought form CC 3 years ago so there is no wire resistor on the back of the gauge. The instruction said not to use it. Any help out there?

Where did the temp sending unit come from? Zip along with C.C sells the Lectric limited sender that is correct for the car. You do not have to use the resistor with the new gauge, but it it is not because of the new senders, it is something in the way the gauges are manufactured now.
