| Description: |
Bill Flato purchased his 1972 convertible brand-new in november
of 1971, using it as his daily-driver with the 200-horsepower 350 until 1978.
Used sparingly since then, Bill has replaced the original small-block with
a big-block that is equipped with Crane L-88 solid-lifter cam, GM Hi-Perf
heads, Doug Thorley custom headers, and a Holley Pro-Jection 4 900-cfm fuel
injection system. The stock TH400 transmission has been beefed up with a Trans-Go
shift improvement kit. "A complete restoration was done in the late
1980s," Bill says, "so the car is now used only for parades and
shows." Original equipment includes air conditioning, power steering
and brakes, both tops, tilt-telescopic steering wheel, leather upholstery,
and the special order seat/shoulder belts. The only non-original exterior
part is the L-88 hood (with the removal of the wiper door). Bill adds,
"Even though it has only 58,000 miles, since it is over 30 years old,
I've registered it as an antique here in Texas."
