1980 Corvette
I have owned my 1980 Corvette since 1994. It was stock when purchased with a L-48, 4 speed and a 411 rear. It now sports a 383 with Dart Heads, Comp Cam, Hooker Headers with STS Baffles, Tremec TKO 600 five speed overdrive tranny, an early model ( 63-79 ) 4.11 rear from Duntov Motorsports, a full Vette Brakes and Products Suspension with Transverse Fiberglass Mono leafs front and rear and Bilstein Shocks. I recently swapped from carb to fuel injection. It is a speed density set up based on the 1991 Corvette ECM with enhancements. I used a TPIS Bigmouth Intake, SLP Siamese Runners, a Ported Plenum from Corvette Plenum and a 52MM Throttle Body. It was dyno tuned by Virginia Speed in Virgina Beach. The car has tremendous torque and handles great. It has surprised many a Mustang who was thinking they were racing a stock 185HP 1980. We recently bought the 2000 convertible for my girl friend. She loves it but I prefer driving my C3.

Two year restoration from the junk yard. Bent frame straightened and paint at J&D Corvettes in Bellflower, Ca. for 9 months. Including all new NOS front fiberglass and bumper mounts. All the while I restored the interior with as much original parts that I could find. All reassembly was done in my 1 car garage. This is my favorite picture.

1982 Collector
Greetings Zip Corvette!! This Corvette is my 11th Anniversary gift from my husband. I had always loved the Collector Edition Corvette!! Could not imagine my surprise when he bought this beauty for me!

C3 Corvette
When I retired from Ford in 2007, I bought myself something to do from one of my son-in-laws. He was the 2nd owner; the first was a guy from California who was allegedly so big, he had to put on a smaller steering wheel. It’s a numbers-matching BB Corvette, and some $10K in parts later, I’m ALMOST done! The attached picture was actually taken at a Ford Engineering Car Show in Dearborn, MI.

1981 Corvette
“I had wanted to own a Corvette since I was six years old,” says Greg from Colorado. “Finally, at age 23, I was able to purchase this beautiful, all-original \'81 with just 70,000 miles on the odometer.” It was love at first sight when Greg spotted the metallic Maroon coupe with leather interior. “I was on one of my many trips to the local Corvette dealership when I saw this one sitting on the showroom floor. It had arrived the day before and I drove it out the next morning. Since I purchased it six months ago, I have used it as my daily driver and have loved every second behind the wheel.”

1973 Corvette
I've owned this 1973 yellow metallic coupe since 1980. She had the body lifted in the fall of 2005 and paint stripped and reshot in fall of 2007. She is a stock L-48 automatic with standard interior but she looks like she just rolls off the showroom floor. She has been driven about 1000 miles since the body lift so she is no "trailer queen", yet. I plan to pass her on to my son when I die provided that my ashes are placed in a ziplock bag and duct taped by my build sheet on my new Quanta gas tank.
Thanks for your consideration! Janice LeGault

1972 Corvette
This is my California '72 Stringray 4 speed. It has a numbers matching 350 rebuilt with RV cams, ARP bolts and chrome molly rings. It also has a Petronix ignition, MSD coil and plug wires with an MSD box hidden behind the map holder. Other than that it is stock.
Best regards to all.

Here is a picture of my 1981 Corvette. This is my first Corvette! I got it in September of 2007. I basically like the body style of the C-3 and especially the 1981. I am retired from working for the Government for 40 years and I am 64 years young!!

1969 Corvette
I have been a proud owner of Corvettes for over 40 years and have restored most of them. I bought this one after it was in a fire and completely restored if from frame up along with the engine. It is a 1969 with 350 engine, automatic with all power options including air conditioning. I am located in the Lexington, MA and this is my 8th corvette that I have restored. They are wonderful cars to work on and drive. You get a lot of head turns from spectators. I use and enjoy Zip Corvette as they are reliable and trustworthy in fulling all my special parts needs. Keep up the good work.
Thanks, Bill Small

C3 Corvette
Hello to all! I purchased a 1969 Corvette from the original owner about 6 1/2 years ago. It currently has less than 70,000 original miles. The interior is original, but in need of new carpet. It is also in need of new paint. It has a built 350 original motor and 4 speed with 411 gears. It is a blast to drive and it turns heads all the time. A California car from the beginning. Thank you

1979 Corvette
After a head-on collision destroyed my pristine bright yellow, code #56 1977 L48 Corvette, I could not work for a while so I spent my time looking for a replacement C3. I'd only had one for about a year, so I guess I hadn’t gotten Corvettes out of my system. After weeks of looking online through sales sites & forums,& looking in local newspapers, I found some, but nothing really caught my eye in my price range. One day, while refilling a prescription at the local pharmacy, I talked to the girl behind the counter I usually dealt with. This day she asked, “Are you still looking for a Corvette to replace your other one?" I said I was, & she said her father had decided to get rid of one of his! Well, turns out he had several, & I got my dark red L82 1979 Corvette for a decent price. I have done quite a few modifications since then, to include a complete VB & P monospring suspension, Bowtie Overdrives TH700R transmission swap,& 2-tone leather interior just to name a few. I think the 17" American Racing Torque thrust 2's look good too
Thanks, Jon Martin, Anacortes, WA

I have been just a little over a year of putting my baby together. I would like to thank ZIP for their great customer service and quality parts. It has been a great experience working on my vette, and Zip helped in that experience. I don't think I ordered one item that was returned for not fitting. All parts were of quality and fit great. Thanks! I look forward to more great transaction with ZIP.

1974 Corvette
I've owned this 1974 Corvette for about a year and a half and have gradually been replacing and detailing things on the car that were either neglected or missing. It is a matching numbers L48 auto with a/c, power & tilt tele steering, power brakes, power windows and luggage rack. This is my second Corvette. I also own a 1988 Convertible that I've had for about 15 years.

1979 Corvette
Hey Guy's,
Thought you might like a shot of my 1979 Corvette from Melbourne, Australia. I first saw a C3 in a Hot Rod magazine way back in 1969 and have liked the style ever since. In '82 I did some welding on a friends mirror image RHD conversion of a '67 and decided then I would have to have one of my own some day. I had to wait until November 1999 when I picked my car up from Terry McMahon and David Keeley. Enterprize Engineering Automotive did the LHD to RHD conversion, interior and mechanicals. Ringwood Smash Repair did the paint, anyone in Melbourne particularly with a C3 Corvette take note of these 3 names. The car is standard apart from a CD player, but sometime this year it should have side pipes fitted.
Hope you like it.
Chris Reilly

1973-Corvette
This is a picture of my 73 yellow metallic Stingray. I've owned her (Christine) since 1980 and in the past three years have had her full restored. I love this car like she was my third child. I plan to be cremated when I die and have a bag of my ashes placed on my Quanta gas tank right next to my build sheet! My youngest son, who will inherit "Christine" is OK with that. I could never fully let her go. When I show her, if I win a trophy it's because I detailed her, not my husband. He has his hands full detailing his 2003 black Coupe (7200 miles).

1974 Vette Downunder
1974 Coupe. 350/4 speed. We\'ve owned her 5 years. Interior replaced-Leather seats. PerTronix ignition installed. Stainless steel mufflers (Sounds GREAT!!) All polishing done by me. Won 2 Show n Shines also Winner- Best Personal C3B at 2004 National Corvette Con. Melbourne AUST. My wife LOVES to drive her(FAST!!!).

1972 Corvette
Mark Anderson, from Charlotte, North Carolina, still can’t believe his recent purchase of a 1972 LS5 coupe. “I just bought it at the recent Corvettes at Carlisle in august,” he says. “I am still in a daze from the whole experience. I continue to walk out to the garage just to reassure myself that it wasn’t a dream!” Mark explains that he went to Carlisle to check out 1970-72 Corvettes but didn’t intend to actually buy anything because of the more than 500-mile drive back to Charlotte. But when he spotted the Mille Miglia Red ’72 and talked the owner down on the price, Mark found himself on the road south in a big-block coupe with 4-speed, air conditioning, all-power, and AM/FM stereo. “The Corvette made the trip back without a hitch. My backside and right leg (hot tranny tunnel) didn't fair as well, but it was definitely worth it!”

1974 Corvette
We’ll let the owner of this ’74 Corvette, who identified himself only as “Darnell,” tell his well-written story: Have you heard the one about the guy who bought a hot rod for $5? It seems the owner met this girl at the track and they ran off to Tahiti. He sent his wife a letter and told her to sell his hot rod and send him the money… she did! Well, my story is similar – just not as dramatic. While visiting a used Corvette dealer, a lady drove up in a well-used and very unattractive ‘74 Corvette. She wanted to sell and had the title in hand, but the dealer was not interested. It had been painted gold with black and gold stripes combined with red carpet and seat covers. Obviously a daily driver, it was mechanically sound and everything was in good working order. I could tell everything had been well maintained – air, power steering, power brakes, etc – just not very stylish! The dealer asked if I was interested and my definite “No!” was countered by “Well, just talk with her and give her some ideas.” Not sure what ideas he meant, but I agreed to discuss the Corvette with her. She needed to sell – bad – but I didn’t need to buy. Having just finished restoration on my ‘86, I wasn’t ready for another project. Trying to make her feel better about this car wasn’t easy. I finally determined that she wasn’t going away until somebody made her an offer. When asked what she wanted for the car, she had no idea. That is when I made my mistake – I made her a ridiculous offer. And she took it! Oh boy… I found myself driving it home and not knowing what I was going to tell my wife or knowing what I was going to do with this “ugly duckling.” Then, I made my second mistake. Removing a ragged bra from the front clip, the entire unit simply turned to dust in my driveway! As if it wasn’t ugly enough already, now I had no front clip. Thanks to Buffalo Body Works and many months of patience, this original Green w/Medium Saddle Corvette made its transition. Now Corvette Yellow with all new interior and carpet, it is once again proud of itself and me of it. With the engine detailed and a few aftermarket goodies, it is an eye catcher rather than an eye sore. I’ve got more to do, but you can definitely see the results of my efforts.

MY LAMBO DOORS (BETTER PIC)
Here's (a better) photo of my 74(Mircalla) taken at a local Show'n'shine.I only finished the install at 10:30 the previous night. They got a lot of Positive comments.

Toys!
This is my fairly stock 77. It has been recently painted Cobalt Blue. Poly bushions and mounts with a fiberglass mono-leafspring and Billstein shocks give a smooth ride. The 350 engine has 69000 original miles. It was recently overhauled and rebuilt with Performer heads, intake and 750 carb. It also has a Comp camshaft and MSD ignition. The TH350 tranny has been rebuilt with B&M components. The dual exhaust system includes Hedman Headeers with 2-1/2" pipes. The whirly bird in the back is my other method of transportation.

Goldie, 1972 Vette, 454, 4sp,
She really is alot of fun to drive! All original except wheels and headers. Very good condition inside and out.

Goldie, 1972 Vette, 454, 4sp

"Yellow Fever"
This is my '82 Corvette which has been completely rebuilt and updated into a modern “Vette Rod”*. It has received extensive amounts of work and lots of "TLC". It's painted with PPG Base Coat/Clear Coat Corvette Competition Yellow; The chassis features a complete (VBP) Performance Plus, Adjustable (16) Points, Suspension System with Front and Rear Mono Leaf Fiberglass springs and Polyurethane bushings through out. The engine is a GM High Performance, ZZ4 350 cu. in., with added "mods" making 400 hp at the rear wheels. Overall it is a Great car. It is built to be safe, dependable, very fast and to handle great.

yellowjackets interior
Completely revamped my interior; new racing seats, wood steering wheel, carpet, Tach, NOS, & color combo's. It used to be a worn dull buckskin color.

Gary Cook's 77 C3 - Spain - Interior
Fully restored interior with Tilt/Tele wheel, stainless horn cap, and functional 8-track. Mostly new interior parts. The interior was completely removed and refurbished. I prefer the stock look so an original 8-track was installed. Note the 5 speed shift plate from Keisler and stock looking shift lever. All electrical and vacuum problems were solved. The clock was rebuilt with a quartz kit.

Gary Cook's 77 C3 - Spain - Engine Pic
A shot of the new New GM ZZ383 Crate Motor installed. GM intake. Holly Spreadbore. It all fit under the stock hood with the right low profile air cleaner. It's connected to a Keisler 5-speed conversion. The exhaust manifolds are stock rams horns ported to match the D-Port aluminum heads. I didn't want any vehicle inspection problems in California and later in Spain.

I am from Denver,Colorado.I'm a 48 year old male with a 35 year old passion for every Vette ever made. I own a 77 Corvette with a custom 2 tone Red over Silver paint job with centerline wheels. It is a bone stock numbers matching L-48 350 with 88,000 miles. Runs perfectly and everything works except the clock (does anyones?).

It started out as an origianl black L-82. I removed two coats of the original paint taking the entire vehicle down to fiberglass. Truflex bumpers were installed front and rear. Air dam and rear spoiler from the Indy version. Stock wheels and tire size. No major changes to the suspension and brakes other than a complete rebuild and a fiberglass mono spring. New poly bushings everywhere including the body mount bushings. Photo taken just after a full mechanical and cosmetic restoration while I was in S. California. Afterwards we moved to the Canary Islands, Spain and of course it came with me! Plenty of restoration photo's on my website. Http://www.EuropeanCorvette.com/

1981 Corvette
John Lyle lives in a small seaside town in northeast England, so his ’81 Corvette is a rarity on the Great Britain highways. Originally shipped to the UK in 1989, John has owned the Corvette for the past two years. In true English enthusiast form, John has pumped up the 4-speed Corvette with Edelbrock Performer RPM heads and AirGap intake with 750cfm carburetor, Crane cam and roller rockers, Pete Jackson geardrive, Hilborn scoop with K&N air filter, reworked HEI with an MSD module and Accel 300+ ignition, and a straight-through dual exhaust. According to John, the 355 cubic-inch small-block pumps out more than 400 horsepower at 6,500 rpm.

1978 Corvette
On a recent fall Corvette cruise, Joe and Joanne Santacroce couldn’t resist stopping on the side of the road near a horse farm in New York to take a few snaps of their 1978 Silver Anniversary Corvette. Equipped with the L82 engine, Oyster leather interior, automatic, air conditioning, and all power goodies, the 29,000-mile ’78 recently went through a “frame-on” restoration because a previous owner allowed the car to sit in storage too long.

1980 Corvette
Last January, Thomas Retelny acquired one wild ride, a 13,500-mile 1980 Corvette with a pair of polished Magna superchargers on the 350 engine. "What is nice about these twin superchargers," says Retelny, "is that if you like a sleeper car, you don't have anything sticking out of the hood." On each of the superchargers is a Dellorto side draft carburetor, plus the engine is detailed with chrome and polished aluminum, although Thomas says it could always use some more. "I am told it puts out between 360 and 500 horsepower, but I haven't had it on the dyno yet." The car's perfect paint job is black with a blue pearl coat. Other mods include a Daytona hood, Daytona wire K.O. wheels, and chrome side pipes.

1977 Corvette
Jeff W. from Livonia, Michigan, says his 1977 Corvette is his passion. We can see why. The red-on-red beauty is equipped with the L48 and automatic drivetrain, deluxe interior with leather seats and cloth inserts (which Jeff says he’s never seen on another local ’77), aluminum wheels, tilt/tele and leather-wrapped steering wheel, convenience group option, air conditioning, power windows, rear defog, sports mirrors with remote, and a luggage rack. That’s from the factory. Jeff has added Vortec heads, Edelbrock Performance intake and carb, K&N filter, Comp Cams’ camshaft, ceramic-coated headers, dual 2 ½-inch exhaust with Hooker Aero Chamber mufflers, Sony stereo, and a Thompson Astro Top roof section. Although Jeff says his ’77 L48 is his first Corvette and his “passion,” he’s already thinking about another one. “I would like to one day own a Corvette manufactured on my birthday, November 22, 1965. I think that would be the ultimate in personal collectability.

1979 Corvette
Like so many other working stiffs, we had always placed practicality over joy in our choice of daily transportation. As I neared retirement, we decided to look for a "toy" that we could both enjoy. There was no doubt that it would be a 'Vette, but it had to be one that was both affordable and in good condition. A local 'Vette dealer gave me a thorough education on the pitfalls that can befall a first-time 'Vette buyer, and that effort certainly paid off. We settled on a C3 for our first 'Vette, as they are certainly the most affordable.... and we love the body style (I really wanted a solid 1967 427/435hp 4-speed convertible..... but then again, who doesn't?). I searched more than two frustrating years but in the summer of 2003 we finally got lucky. I found this 1979 L48 4-Speed in environmentally controlled storage in New Hampshire. It was a one-owner that had been virtually untouched for 15 years and had only 9,000 certified original miles on it. After changing all the fluids and taking care to examine everything carefully, it cranked on the first try. It looks, runs and drives as if it was new.....quiet, tight and smooth; all gauges and options work, and it is as clean as a pin throughout. The original tires were hardly worn and looked great, but were dry-rotted so they had to be replaced. According to my research, it is the rarest color and equipment combination built in 1979. The tank sticker and all other tags and assembly markings are intact, and we are considering whether or not we should take it to a Certification Event such as NCRS or Bloomington. Shortly after we got it back home in Georgia we took it to a local 'Vettes-Only car show where it won a "Driver's Choice Top 20" trophy, and there were over 200 really sharp 'Vettes in the competition. Only 'Vette owners (with cars in the show) could vote awards, so this was a very pleasant surprise. We love this C3 but don't want to ruin it's originality or run the miles up, so we just take it out on really nice weekends. It always turns heads, gets "thumbs-up" signs and broad grins from other drivers and pedestrians. We hope to eventually obtain an affordable C5 convertible that we can drive more often and for greater distances, as "fun" driving is now our top transportation priority. The C3 certainly is fun, but we're almost afraid to hurt it! Bill & Linda Meyer Snellville, GA

Thanks for the opportunity to show off my 1976. Even though it is not the highest priced vette but hey who cares which one you own as long as you have one to show off. No matter what condition, it is still a vette. This one has a newly rebuilt original block and heads, .30 over on the piston bore, flat top pistons and nice mild performance cam. Not over done but still a great ride with new front end parts and upgraded brakes. The car rides like new and still picks up the chicks. Thanks to Zip Products, vette brakes and mid america motorworks. I would never have done it without your help and catalogs. Michael Lafroscia Florida

A lucky Robert Moreno received this 1982 Corvette as a gift from his wife on his 50th birthday back in 1996. "It was a good, straight, no-hit, all-original car," Robert says. Since then, Robert has completely redone the super-nice ‘82. "We enjoy driving to shows, on trips, and around town. I love pulling up at stop lights and people admiring the car. All the thumbs-up I get are worth the work. When we started showing the car, it was wash and show, then back on the street as my restoration work progressed." Robert has won a first place every time he has shown the car, including one in a concours class. "But the most fun is just driving the car."

I was just looking around and found a '78 pace car that you did an article on with only 331 miles on it. Don't know the date though. Just wanted to tell you about my '78 pace car a little. For starters it only has 8.7 miles on it. And still all in plastic and cardboard just like coming off the factory line. All original except for gas, oil, battery, and brake fluid. All is documented for its authenticity. I know there's some low mileage pace cars out there still, but ive yet to find one like mine. Thanks for your time. Doug

San Diego’s David Oakey has put his own personal touch on his 1977 L-82 Corvette. On the outside, David has added 17 x 10-inch American Eagle wheels, which he says will be chromed in the not too distant future. On the inside, the matching-number 350 has been beefed with an Edelbrock Performer RPM cam with roller rockers, Edelbrock Performer intake and 1400 carb, Hedman headers, no converters (still registered in Michigan, he notes), and straight-through glass-pack mufflers “for a nice, ear-deafening roar!” From the factory, the Corvette came through with a 4-speed and power-everything. The interior has been restored with new carpeting, seats, and dash, while the exterior was repainted by California Auto Body. David has a 2-inch body drop planned with components from Vette Brakes.

I PURCHASED THIS GARAGED FOR 20 YEARS 1979 L-48 IN 2003. THOUGH MILEAGE WAS ONLY 71K, I DID A COMPLETE RESTORATION, WITH APPROPRIATE HELP. I HAD A 76, COMPETITION ORANGE, AND HAD TO TRADE IN FOR A STATION WAGON AFTER MY DAUGHTER WAS BORN. I MISSED MY VETTE EVERYDAY FOR 25 YEARS, AND VOWED TO GET ANOTHER. COULDN'T FIND A DECENT 76, AND I'M GLAD I FOUND THIS 79. SHE'S NOW FLAWLESS, AND DYNO'S AT 330 HP AT THE REAR WHEELS, THANKS TO A CRANE CAM'D ENGINE, AND OTHER MODS. I LOVE THIS CAR, AND SHE GETS INVITED TO SEVERAL CORVETTE EVENTS. HER NAME IS LULU, AND SHE WILL NEVER BE SOLD. DR. J. TRUNK

Club Corvette Sweden member Thomas Kindberg owns "Blue Lightning," a 1971 coupe with a recently overhauled LS5 engine. "It’s got new parts from the radiator to the gearbox," Thomas says, "including an LS6 cam, solid lifters, forged pistons, and steel rods. Every part except the block, crank, and heads is new." Thomas also reworked the interior and undercarriage during the cold Swedish winter last year. Options include power steering and brakes, tilt-telescopic steering wheel, air conditioning, and luggage rack. "Now she’s a real nice driver," Thomas says. "She pulls strongly from idle to 6,000 rpm."

1968 Corvette
When I was in high school, my good friend had a 68 convertible that we used to cruise in. I always loved that car and tried over the years to get one of my own. Insurance and loans kept me from my dream car up until 6 years ago. I purchased my car in Wisconsin and now have it in Florida. I have added the sidepipes and Cragers in the last two years. It is powered by a 327 with some “ goodies “ under the hood. A very fast Vette and a real attention getter.

I wanted to share with you a composite picture of my 1975 Vette and CF-18 ( 441 Tactical Fighter Squadron, Cold Lake, Alberta) that it's paint job was based on. My close buddy, Captain Desmond Brophy (a CF-18 pilot with 441 TFS) and I decided to have the Vtte painted up to reflect the spirit of one of the squadron jet's, #724. 724 sports a "checker board" paint scheme that honour's 441's squadron history. The Vette spends most of its life here in Calgary, Alberta with me, but every year it take the trip north to Cold Lake for the annual Maple Flag weapons meet, with the specific purpose of being personal car for the Commanding Officer of 441 TFS.

Thought I might make a submission. I bought this 75 for $700.00 and did a total frame off restoration. It was quite a learning experience, doubt I will ever try anything like this again unless the car is really special. Well, I feel this one is special now, at least to me. This car gets driven! Twice now to Bowling Green and many local cruises in the Chicago area. Steve Riebe

I´m a German Corvette-Fan: Since I was a Teenager, my dreamcar was a C3. Now that I am older I finally found my dream car here in Germany! Since 2000 I've owned this 82 Collector Edition. I have had a lot of work with it, but I think, the result looks very well! Here in Germany it´s really an eye-catcher! I drive my car only in Summer with a "Season-Licene-Plate" from April to October. Juergen Wissmann Stuttgart, Germany

I've owned this 4 speed jewel for 27 years and it has only 33k original miles on it. For the last two years, I stripped off two layers of old paint and then repainted this baby in my two car garage. In addition, I replaced the tired bushings and went thru the low mileage 327 to make sure it was ready for my retirement. The original wheels are in storage but the spare is the same thin white wall tire sold in 1968. My special thanks to specialist Larry Manning for his guidance on painting this truly unique automobile. Barry DiSimone Tucson, AZ

Hi there, thought I would submit my latest Vette for your reader's ride section. I recently came to the US from New Zealand to purchase my dream Vette, an all original 1969 big block roadster which I found in Dublin, Northern California. Shipped her back to New Zealand last November and love the car. It is my fourth Corvette having owned a 1980, '85, and most recently a '94 LT1 coupe. I'm a member of Capital Corvette Club here in Wellington, New Zealand. The car is original Cortez Silver with gunmetal vinyl interior, has the 4 speed M21 transmission and optional hardtop. Hope you enjoy the pictures Regards, Chris Jury

I purchased this beauty 3 years ago from a collector selling the car as a seibring. Through my research and visits to Bowling Green, and contact with Greenwoods sons it seems that I own a one of a kind 1969 Can-Am. It was built for a woman in Salt Lake City in 1977. It is in the exhaustive restoration process. It is powered by a 350/350, automatic. 295/50's on rear and 245/50's in front.

Tomi Kari, who hails from Helsinki, Finland, says he traded his very first car, a ’68 Corvette with a big-block, last year for this ’69 convertible, mainly because “I always wanted a ragtop!” The black with red leather interior Corvette is equipped with a beefed-up 350 sporting around 400 horsepower, M-20 gearbox, and 3.36 posi-traction rearend. “There are no power options on this sports car except for the engine and the stereo system,” Tomi says. Yes, it has a powerful Kenwood system with big amplifiers and speakers. Tomi is active in Finland’s Corvette hobby as a member of the board for the Club Corvette of Finland.

Jim Powell originally built this 1976 Can-Am Corvette with Chuck Hewelett in 1982, then sold it to a new owner in 1985. Jim lost track of the customized Corvette, then found it in 1995 in a bank parking lot. Apparently, the car had been through a tough time because the previous owner purchased the car while it was “chained to a post in front of a pawn shop.” According to Powell, “It was in dire need of major body and engine work, along with a complete interior. Since 1996, the car has undergone a custom retro (it was never stock) and made its debut at the Effingham Fun Fest 2000.” Currently the Can-Am Corvette is equipped with 475-horsepower stroker 383 engine, Turbo 350 automatic with B&M converter, American Racing Torq-Thrust wheels, Goodyear F1s, and a Vette Brakes’ suspension. Color is PPG Prowler Yellow with Dark Plumb Pearl. “Trust me, my wife is very glad the project is finished,” Powell adds. “All she has heard for four years is ‘Honey, I need more parts,’ ‘Did UPS run today?’ and ‘It’s almost done, trust me!’”

Gerardo Ruiz e-mailed us photos of his father’s 1981 Corvette Daytona, purchased in 1985 and updated over the years with a Lamborghini Countach wing and custom paint. According to Gerardo, his father, Guadalupe Ruiz from Redwood City, California, ended up painting the car himself. “He went to different body shops and they wanted to charge him an arm and a leg,” Gerardo explains. “One of the shops got mad because he didn't want them to paint it because of their prices, and the owner told him to go to the local hardware store, grab some brushes and paint, and paint it himself. So my father took the advice, even though he didn't have any painting experience. He bought paint and paint guns, then painted the car to his desire. Later, he went back to that body shop, showed them the work he had done, and thanked them for the advice.”

WHEN MY UNCLE DIED, IN 2000, THIS WAS IN HIS GARAGE. 1976 THAT HE BOUGHT IN 77. I HAD IT TOWED OUT AND REPAIRED. NEW INTERIOR, WATER PUMP, REBUILT REAR, REBUILT TRANS. NEW AIR CONDITIONER AND SEVERAL THOUSAND DOLLARS OF MISC REPAIRS. TO A TOTAL OF AROUND 15K. BUT WHEN I ASKED WHY HE DIDN'T SELL IT, FROM HIS DYING BED, HE SAID "WHEN YOU GET ONE YOU CAN'T LET IT GO." THAT’S WHEN I TOLD MY WIFE WE WERE GOING TO FIX IT. 125,000 MILES AND GOING STRONG. BILL HANKINS GLEN BURNIE MD

This is my 71 Vette. A lot of effort has been put into restoring this car to almost original condition. It has the numbers matching 350 engine and transmission along with a host of other original parts. A new interior has just recently been finished with new seats, door panels, and matching carpet. This Stingray came with Power windows, AC, and Tilt/Tele Steering but the original radio has been updated to a new state of the art cd/mp3 player and FM tuner. New wheels and tires help it to hug the corners and the custom Flowmaster exhaust power it out of the straight-aways. Looking forward to showing it off this Spring & Summer! Thanks, Jason Phelps Texas

Olney, Maryland’s Richard Clinton has owned his ’69 Corvette T-top coupe since 1973. It’s a numbers-matching car with 73,000 miles and a “blueprinted LT1 conversion” to bring the 350 up to the 370-horsepower specs of the 1970 LT1 small-block. “It’s basically a 350/350 with a solid-lifter camshaft and Holley double-pumper carb,” Richard points out. The Corvette was completely stripped last year, then re-gelcoated and painted in 1992 Black Rose. Except for new carpet and seat covers/foam, the interior is all original. “She is quick and beautiful and only goes out on sunny, warm days,” says Richard.

1971 Corvette
My 71' coupe was recently repainted to match the Mille Miglia Red as it was when delivered nearly 35 years ago. The original owner wanted white on red...and so it stayed until april of this year. The 350 block was bored, new cam, heads, Edelbrock hi-rise performer intake manifold, crank, pistons replaced then balanced and tuned. Hookers installed, then my transmission and carb rebuilt to deliver some fun power to the rear wheels. Restored nearly all of the interior, with a few small projects scheduled for this winter. What a fun ride! Love the magazine, very classy !! Mike Metcalf Sr. Newark, De

1975 Corvette
When Donald and Jennifer Rozman from Indiana Township, Pennsylvania, purchased their 1975 Corvette, it was white and 95 percent untouched. However, lack of attention from a previous owner had left it faded and ragged. That’s when the Rozmans initiated their customized rebuild. “All bodywork and paint was done by my wife and I as a family project as her introduction into the world of rebuilding,” Donald says, also pointing out that his wife is now hooked with Corvette fever. “The car currently has three coats of maroon pearl with a few bright blue highlights, covered with 3 coats of PPG Prizmatique Blue, one of the new age holographic type paints.” The Corvette has been complete for about a year, so Donald says it’s time to add some performance to the 350 in the form of a high-rise intake, carb, cam, and ignition. He’s also planning new black paint with marbelizer highlights covered with blue or red pearl (still undecided, he says) and a few colorful splashes and drips across the front end.

Bill Flato purchased his 1972 convertible brand-new in november of 1971, using it as his daily-driver with the 200-horsepower 350 until 1978. Used sparingly since then, Bill has replaced the original small-block with a big-block that is equipped with Crane L-88 solid-lifter cam, GM Hi-Perf heads, Doug Thorley custom headers, and a Holley Pro-Jection 4 900-cfm fuel injection system. The stock TH400 transmission has been beefed up with a Trans-Go shift improvement kit. "A complete restoration was done in the late 1980s," Bill says, "so the car is now used only for parades and shows." Original equipment includes air conditioning, power steering and brakes, both tops, tilt-telescopic steering wheel, leather upholstery, and the special order seat/shoulder belts. The only non-original exterior part is the L-88 hood (with the removal of the wiper door). Bill adds, "Even though it has only 58,000 miles, since it is over 30 years old, I've registered it as an antique here in Texas."

C3 Corvette
"My wife bought this Corvette for me as a gift to celebrate my one-year anniversary in AA," says the owner of this blue C3 who identified himself only as Bucks. "There are more things in life than drinking." Bucks says the Corvette has been completely rebuilt from the radiator to the exhaust tips, with modifications like a Holley 750 cfm carburetor, aluminum heads, racing cam, headers, stainless steel exhaust with performance mufflers, performance shift kit, and a posi-traction rearend with 4.73 gears. Horsepower has been measured at 435. The 73,000-mile Corvette was scheduled for a body-off repaint this spring. Bucks adds, "My teenage son knows he will get this Vette when I can no longer get into it to drive it myself."

1975 Corvette
Here is my 1975 Roadster that I am restoring. I have owned it since 1984 and it has survived through divorce, several moves, and outdoor storage. The outdoor storage really wrecked the paint and it was necessary to start the restoration with new paint. The picture was taken along the coast at San Simeon, California on the annual San Simeon Corvette Tour hosted by South Valley Corvettes. Patricia B.

Dan and Trish Coble From Punta Gorda Florida, submitted their Corvettes to our Readers Rides department because, "We wanted to share our good fortune with other Corvette lovers." Last summer, after winning a 20-year battle with Uncle Sam, Dan and Trish decided to fulfill their life-long dream of buying a nice Corvette to restore and enjoy. Trouble was, Dan liked C3s while Trish preferred C4s. But when they couldn’t find a clean C3, Trish won out when they located a 9,000 black-on-black 1994 LT-4 at Roger’s Corvettes in Orlando. A few days after taking delivery of the C4, the A/C controller malfunctioned, so the Cobles took the car back to Rogers for a repair. There they spotted a new arrival — a black-on-silver-gray 1982 Corvette, a one-owner with under 17,000 miles and fully optioned. "Needless to say, our garage is filled with our dream cars," Trish said. "And the bonus is that we have detailed information about the history of our ’82, all the way down to when the engine block was cast. We consider ourselves incredibly lucky to have stumbled onto two such fine examples of Corvette history."

"This is my five-year project and daily driver," says Harold Buote. A member of the Cape Cod Corvette Club, Harold has rebuilt his Crossfire Injection 1982 "from front to back and everything in between, with all modifications performed by Corvettes & Classics in Taunton, MA." Harold continues, "This little beauty is fast and tight and a real pleasure to drive. We have driven it cross country and had the pleasure of doing Route 66. This past year we went to Key West and back without a hitch."

1976 Corvette
Mike Lynch is the second owner of this 1976 Orange Flame Stingray, which has only 4,200 original miles on it. "The car has never seen one rain drop," Mike says, "as confirmed by me and the original owners. It has always been garaged kept and heated during the winter months as the car came from Ohio to New York. I don't plan on driving the car that much but I'm not going to let it rot in the garage either" The only change to the Corvette from original is the exhaust system, which is now a stainless steel version because condensation rotted the originals. "I am also going to buy the aluminum wheels that were first optioned for this year so I can save the original wheels and GR-70 Firestone tires."

Tony Buccuti admits that he made the leap about seven years ago. Formerly a die-hard Pontiac owner, having owned a pair of older Trans-Ams and a GTO, Tony says he "moved up" to Corvette ownership with the purchase of this red-on-red 1971 convertible. With a white convertible top and the base 270-horsepower/4-speed drivetrain, Tony says the Corvette is just what he wanted — not a 100-point show car but a true driver that looks and runs great. Although mostly original, Tony has upgraded the radio and shifter, plus he added the factory sidepipes because, "I always wanted a car with sidepipes!" Tony puts around 2,000 miles a year on the Corvette and, over the seven years he’s owned it, has never had a problem.

Here is a picture of a vette you don't see too often. Me and some friends built it this winter in my garage. It is a used and abused, 1973 Corvette with some slight modifications. I live on a highway and it litterally stops traffic. Ryan Bodden Bancroft, Ontario, Canada

C3 Corvette
Description: "Thanks for the chance to show off five years of free time and disposable income," says Mike Kirby from Santa Fe, New Mexico. Pieced together from two wrecked Corvettes, a 1974 and a 1981, Mike’s modified is now powered by a balanced and blueprinted 355 cubic-inch small-block with the original four-bolt main matching number block. The engine is fitted with a forged crank, Keith Black 11:1 compression pistons, Crane Fireball cam, roller rockers, Bowtie aluminum heads, polished tunnel-ram intake with twin Holley 465 cfm carburetors, and polished Hooker side exhaust headers with home-made baffles. For shifting, the black Corvette is equipped with a Turbo 400 with a 3500 stall converter and internal modifications for quicker shifts. With the exception of the paint, all work was done by Mike. "It’s just a hot rod from the old school," Mike explains, "but I love it and it blows minds."

1980 Corvette
Just thought I would drop a line. My wife and I have had a number of Corvettes over the years, and plan to have more as long as we can drive. The 1980 has been with the family for 16 years. We bought it from the original owners and have enjoyed it for many miles. The 1964 came along later and became the mid-year we had always wanted. We were thinking of adding a blue C5 or C6 convertible eventually to create a patriotic theme.Save the Wave! Larry Broden Denver, CO

Johnny Powers has owned his bright yellow ’76 Corvette since 1978. Equipped with the dark brown interior and "every option available in 1976," the Corvette is not one for the static show circuit. The original 350 is still under the hood, but it has been modified with Racing Head Service heads, Edelbrock Performance intake, recurved HEI ignition, L-82 camshaft, Isky roller rockers, and a Carb Shop Stage 2 Q-Jet. The hopped-up 350 pushes its power through the original TH350 automatic transmission.

"Hello, my name is Weeja and this is my all-original L-82 Vette roadster with 32,000 original miles," says the-mail identified only as from Weeja from Atlanta. Originally yellow with a tan interior, the Corvette convertible has been repainted in eye-popping red. Weeja is the third owner of the car, which has all power options including the map light and rear window defogger. According to Weeja, "The car runs and drives beautifully, and it turns many heads in the Atlanta area."

1982 Corvette
Because there were no factory-built C3 convertibles produced after 1975, the selling California dealer of this 1982 Corvette had the coupe converted into a custom-made convertible. Now owned by Bill Malm from upstate New York, the unique 1982 Corvette convertible is equipped with the Crossfire Injection 350 cubic-inch V8 and 700 R4 automatic transmission.

Working with his local Spokane, Washington, Corvette club to put together a fund raiser calendar, professional photographer Myron Bursell is donating the photography for the project, including this patriotic theme for his own 1972 Corvette. Purchased in 2001 from the Corvette manager at a local Chevrolet dealership, the red ’72 "gets many more looks than my previous ’67 Mustang, ’66 Chevelle, or ’40 Mercury coupe," Myron says. So far, Myron has repaired the brakes all the way around and added a new chrome luggage rack, with new interior parts on the way. "Part of the fun of having a classic car is doing some of the work and watching the car come together with all the fine details."

Description: "They say the third time does the trick, and in this case I agree," says Eric, who owns this 1970 LT-1 Corvette. "My other two were ’72s, the ones you can’t fake because the engine code is in the VIN. But I know my ’70 is a real LT-1 because I bought it from the original owner with all the paperwork." With just 56,000 miles on the odometer, Eric’s Corvette is still mostly original, including the paint, clutch, spark plug shielding (which is missing on many cars), and exhaust system. "The car takes you right back to 1970 with the first turn of the key as the K66 transistor ignition lights the car right off," Eric says.

1982 Corvette
Description: Mike Longbine says he searched a long time before finding just the right car for his first Corvette. “I had a good idea what I wanted,” Mike explains. “A red ‘82. Sure the ‘80 and ’81 are basically identical, but the ‘82 has a few extras going for it. First of all, there were less than half as many 82s made than the earlier years, unless you go way back. The 1982 was the first for Crossfire Injection. I know, there is a lot of controversy about this particular injection system, yet I like it because mine functions flawlessly and it adds to the rarity of this car. The ‘82 was also the first car to be built in the Bowling Green plant and the last year for the C3.” Mike’s ’82 has yet another rare item, the cloth interior, which he was told was a special order. “Many people comment on what a nice job I did with the interior, so they usually get a chuckle when I tell them it's factory – until they see the sticker.” With only 11,800 miles, Mike’s Corvette is factory original from the “tits still on the tires to the tip of the antenna!” It has never been rained on or stayed outside over night. “Yeah, it's a little spoiled but that's OK,” Mike says, “because I like keeping it happy.”

Description: Rick Pitts has owned his 1972 Stingray for about 3 years now. Rick explains, "When I bought the car, I had just built a special engine for my 1978 Silver Anniversary Corvette. But somehow the engine seemed a little wild for the ’78 with an automatic, so instead I bought this Sunflower Yellow '72. Except for the engine and the L-88 hood, it's all original." Rick’s engine is a 418 cubic-incher that was custom-built from a bow-tie block with a BRC 4340 steel balanced crank, Oliver Rods, JE Custom Pistons, Brodix aluminum heads, Crower roller rockers, custom built Holley carb, Edelbrock intake, MSD 6AL ignition with Blaster coil, custom ground cam, Hooker Super Competition headers, and an LT1 off-road exhaust. The ’72 is also equipped with a 4- speed transmission and deluxe black interior. "She looks and sounds great," Rick exclaims, "and it’s pure excitement to drive!"

1974 Corvette
We’ll let Gerald Darnell, the owner of this ’74 Corvette, tell his story: "Split tail — that’s what made the ‘74 Corvette unique. With the transition from chrome to fiberglass bumpers, the ‘74 was introduced with a double unit bumper clip. That was the first and only year of this design and makes it not only different but also easily recognized — at least from the rear. I wasn’t looking for a project when I found this abused but serviceable ‘74. The owner had painted it gold -several times — with black/gold stripes and red interior (ouch!). He had drilled holes in the door panels for cup holders, screwed plastic pockets to the console, mounted a ‘fuzz buster’ on the dash and had left a bra on the front for so long that the fiberglass clip had rotted and turned to dust when I removed it! However, everything worked — power windows, air, power brakes and a solid engine. It was a driver. "The frame-on restoration began with total removal of interior and extensive bodywork by Buffalo Body Works in Longwood, FL. The car had been ‘born Green,’ but had many layers of paint, numerous inferior fiberglass repairs, European tail lights, and evidence that paint had been used to cover many of the repair flaws. New carpet, interior panels, weather stripping, trim painting, new gauges, and some aftermarket goodies were next in the restoration process. The final step was adding original Rally Wheels and Firestone tires to complete the ‘74. It is show ready and show active. "I have an 11-year-old daughter. She can now share and remember this car. When she’s my age, she can talk about and remember the Sharks and Stingrays. And if she’s lucky, I may let her drive it someday!"

1982 Corvette
Doug Crabb is a Baptist minister who says, "I find my Corvette to be good therapy and excellent for stress reduction!" Rev. Crabb’s ’82 is all stock with matching numbers and 70,000 miles on the odometer. "My wife bought it for me last summer as a birthday present," Doug says. "I had always wanted a Corvette and previously she would just buy me a little desktop version. This car has unleashed a hidden hobby that I could not have imagined!" Now members of the Kansas City Corvette Association, Doug and his obviously wonderful wife have already traveled to Bowling Green for a vacation and tour of the GM Corvette plant and the Corvette Museum.

C3 Corvette
Description: I've got a few classics (58 Panama Yellow), a 61 and a 2001 Z06. But, I have recently purchased a highly modified vette which is really unique. Thanks, Damon Peary

1982 Corvette
Mike Longbine says he searched a long time before finding just the right car for his first Corvette.

1978 Corvette
The owner of this '78 Silver Anniversary purchased the Cowboy's Edition L-82 Corvette from a single lady who sold it to spite her ex-boyfriend. "Our good luck, sorry for him," said the owner, who identified herself only as Pat. "He told her it was something special, but she couldn't figure out what was so special about it." Pat and her husband are currently researching the car’s history as a custom Dallas Cowboy's edition for the 1978 Super Bowl (the Cowboys played Denver Broncos that year). "My husband remembers this car going across the field at half-time," Pat explains, "and one of our friends remembers seeing one at a Chevy dealership in Dallas about that time. It may have been Too Tall Jones' car, or another player. I'd like to know how many were made. I feel there must have been very few, as we haven't seen another like it."

1979 Corvette
Even though Stephanie Moore’s 1979 coupe was winning awards, Stephanie decided to “make-over” the formerly white C3, going with her own designs for the graphics, interior, and paint scheme. Purchased in march 2000 from the original owner, the “MyBad79” Corvette shows 44,000 miles on the odometer and came with 21 years of service records. “Sylvia” is Stephanie’s third Corvette.

1972 Corvette
Rick Pitts has owned his 1972 Stingray for about 3 years now.
