Corvette Wiper Motor Replacement

Your windshield wiper motor has stopped working. You have checked the fuse. The wiper switch is good and you have power to the wiper motor. Well, Sparky, your wiper motor has decided to go to that big wiper motor graveyard in the sky. Replacing the wiper motor is really a simple task and does not require any type of special tools.
Start the replacement by making a call to Zip Corvette Parts, 8067 Fast Lane, Mechanicsville, VA 23111, 1-800-962-9632. They can supply a new wiper motor as well as any other related wiper parts. If you have a 77 to 82 Corvette you need to know if you have a pulse wiper system or not. Since this was an option in some of the years, not all of the Corvettes came with this system which allowed the wipers to delay as most cars do today. If your car is equipped with the pulse system you will also need to order the pulse motor cover along with the new wiper motor. The reason for this is that all new motors are set for non-pulse movement. Changing the motor cover will convert the non-pulse motor to the pulse system. Now with our new wiper motor and tools in hand, let's replace that worn out wiper motor.

Corvette Wiper Motor Replacement 01: Here are the items that Zip supplied: A new wiper motor, a pulse wiper motor cover, wiper motor seal and a pair of new wiper blades. All you will need are some common hand tools and about an hour.
Corvette Wiper Motor Replacement 02: Start by removing the nut that holds the wiper motor transmission arm onto the shaft.
Corvette Wiper Motor Replacement 03: Disconnect the wiring terminal plugs on the motor and remove the retaining screws. Now slide the motor out from the firewall. On some year Corvettes you will have to remove the distributor ignition shielding so that the motor shaft will clear the firewall.

04: This is our new motor with both covers. The cover on the right is for non-pulse movement. The cover on the left is for the pulse option. You can readily see the difference in the two covers. Note: If you want to convert to non-pulse wiper operation, you can do so by using the non-pulse cover which comes with the new motor. The new motor comes with directions explaining how to change the terminal wiring. It is very easy to do.
Corvette Wiper Motor Replacement 05: Before you are ready to install the motor, replace the wiper seal gasket.
Corvette Wiper Motor Replacement 06: Re-install the motor. Secure the mounting screws and plug in the wiring terminals.
Corvette Wiper Motor Replacement 07: Place the wiper transmission arm back onto the wiper motor shaft and secure the nut. Do not try to move the wiper motor shaft to align the arm. This can damage the motor. Align the arm to the shaft.
Corvette Wiper Motor Replacement 08: We also replaced the wiper blade assemblies. To remove the blade assembly, press the tab down and remove the blade from the wiper arm.
Corvette Wiper Motor Replacement 09: To install the new wiper blade assembly, just snap it onto the wiper arm. It is that simple. Now turn the wipers on and put the wipe back in the windshield wiper.
