On january 2nd, 2004, phones were ringing at Chevrolet dealerships everywhere – information on the all-new Corvette had just been released and enthusiasts were calling for how and when they could order one of their own. Months before, wheels had already started turning for the development team at Zip Products. “We knew due to the excitement generated by the C5 that when the C6 finally hit, people were going to want this car”, recalled David Walker, President of Zip Products.
   The following week a deposit was placed with Colonial Chevrolet in Virginia Beach, Virginia for their first allocated ‘05 Corvette. Time being of the essence, Zip’s commitment was made before colors, options or even price were known. Development Leader Justin Abbott noted, “It was a strange feeling placing an order for a car we basically knew nothing about, but our goal was to have the first C6 in Virginia, and to do that we had to move quickly.”
