Though the ’63 Corvette’s front suspension was similar in design to that of previous Corvettes, with unequal length upper and lower wishbones, coil springs, and tubular shock absorbers, the new car relied on ball joints to pivot the uprights rather than king pins. This change improved suspension geometry and saved a little bit of weight at the same time.
