Once the aesthetics are worked out, the proposed design goes back
to engineering for analysis and, if possible, implementation. The designer
understandably wants to see his creation go into production unaltered but
thats not always possible and engineering can apply the brakes at this
stage if its deemed necessary.
One of the more common reasons why a proposal is sent back to
the studio is because its impossible to execute utilizing the chosen
manufacturing process. For example, very intricate details and severe angles
are often inconsistent with a forging, so if the wheel is going to be forged
the designer has to take this into consideration. In a similar vein, while
cast wheels allow for much more elaborate designs, the molds have to be viable
