One should not judge the subject matter of artists without a great deal of thought. They might be drawing our culture in brush strokes that touch and grab us in a subliminal way. We see, we like, we buy, we enjoy. Why a painting appeals to us, same as a car design, is often difficult to clarify.
 
Dana is an artist, but he’s also a Corvette person. Before the Corvette paintings, in 1987, he bought a ‘66 Stingray coupe. Soon, he began painting pictures of this car for his own enjoyment. Eventually, the work "just sort of slipped into the brick wall series that I already had started and took off. So it is one of those accidents that turned out real well."
