In
his early 50s, Rollie has been in the family business since its inception,
43 years ago this january. He was nine when his father, also named Roland,
bought the Chevy dealership in Fort Lupton, Colorado.
Hmmm,
this made him a teenager in the 1960s. I figured Rollie must be incredibly
steeped in the Corvette tradition and thus the 53 Commemorative was
his ride. I was right and wrong.
Oh,
hes steeped alright. In fact, Rollie is one of seven dealers in the
country who is on the Corvette Brand Team. But incredibly, Purifoy Chevrolet
did not sell but one single Corvette, a 62 model, before the 84
model year.
Rollies
father taught him to drive at the age of six. At 12, he took off by himself
in his mothers 53 Chevy sedan and drove 105 miles north
