to be not so competitive. Lingenfelter elected not to enter, deciding to run
as exhibition only. No matter, his twin turbo 427 had the best ET. One might
deem him the winner, except in the spirit of defining a sports car, the National
Corvette Museum combined a low speed autocross with the drag race to determine
Top Gun.
The idea sounds good at first. Corvettes are sports cars. We were
more interested in ultimates, at least where drag racing and Corvettes are
concerned. What shaped up as a super shootout fizzled. Who wants to autocross
a Corvette set up to run the low nines
