could not match the blistering pace set by Chevy’s two C5-R Corvettes.
    C5-R #3 led the way in qualifying with a time of 1:59.699 while its #4 sister ship was second at 1.59.940. None of the Corvettes’ competitors could break the two minute barrier, with a Viper coming closest at 2:01.476.
    Moments after the green flag waved Saturday morning, both Corvettes sped off, leaving the other GTS cars in the dust. For nearly eight hours they ran nose-to-tail, alternately trading the lead and looking very much like a two-car Millennium Yellow freight train that would stop for nothing.
