LEFT: One of the first checks is to see how much wear the throttle shaft has caused in the throttle body housing. Simply put your hand on the cruise control diaphragm and squeeze it a few times while you watch the throttle shaft. There shouldnt be much movement at all. If your throttle shaft moves when you squeeze on the cruise control bellows, it means theres some fairly serious wear in the throttle body housing. If you get a lot of movement you should really begin to consider purchasing a new throttle body.
BELOW LEFT: Whether you intend to replace your throttle body, or just clean the one you have, the first step is to remove the intake hose that runs between the Mass Air Flow (MAF) and the throttle body. The best way to do this to simply loosen the hose clamp at the throttle body end and then unlatch the two clamps that join the air housing to the air filter.

have a dry air passage. Those of us raised on carburetors have a tendency
to forget that fact.
