Jim explained,
"By the time I’m done with them they have a deep rumble and it seems
like they are all pretty fast. Our ZR1 ran over 200 mph. Our ‘99 ran a
12.28/117 in the quarter, and the engine was all stock." Jim built his
own custom air box for the ‘99, modified the exhausts, and dropped the
body. He’s planning on the same mods for the Z06, having already lowered
Karen’s Z06 an inch and a half using the factory lowering marks. Jim has
registered a best 0-60 time of 3.89 seconds, as computed with his G-Tech timing
device.
That’s really cooking. Jim remembers, "The first
thing Karen said when she drove this car was, ‘This is faster than my ’99!’
And we were beating 2001 Z06s with that car."
