tough driving. Karen has been autocrossing for four years, while Jim is an expert
driver himself. He confides, "People have no idea Karen can drive so well.
They see her getting in her car and it is comical because the guys kind of laugh.
‘Oh, some blond is getting into this car to race, ha ha.’ And she
goes out there and beats them. Or I’ve had people see me standing around
and ask who’s out in my car? And Karen’s doing these four wheel drifts
and powering right out and they’re surprised. They didn’t know she
could do that."
At
the Route 66 show in Phoenix this past november, Karen had the best time of
the day, a 1:08, until Jim took a crack at the course late in the afternoon.
He beat her by five seconds. Small wonder that Karen and Jim were autocross
champions this past year
