Scott
likes to say, "This is my 96 Collector Edition Corvette ZR1. Theres
not another one like it. Its got a year and four months of work in it."
Scott bought the 91 ZR1 in 1996 from a man in Florida who
had just replaced the stock interior with seats, door panels, and white switches
from a 4,000-mile 96 Collector Edition. Cowgill, whos from St. Charles,
Missouri, liked the upgraded gray interior, which he set off with 1995 Competition
Yellow. "Sikkens paint over a white base makes the color a lot deeper. The 91
hue would have been a paler yellow, but still called Competition Yellow," Scott
explains.
He wanted to up the power, but not in a crude way. He wasnt
trying to build strictly a quarter-miler because autocrossing was also part
