Hennessey mentioned his
plan to tune Corvettes." He would have two different packages. Apparently,
both were in the planning stages at the time. Vetters Vette became the
first Z500, and is so denoted on the valve covers as #001. Later, there will
be a Z600. The former is a heads and cam package. The latter is a stroker
engine in a Stage 2 configuration.
As the Z letter indicates, the basis for this super Hennessey
Corvette is the Z06. Jon Paul recalled, "I was considering a Viper, having
looked at both Vipers and Corvettes. Then I found out the Z06 has very comparable
performance, in stock form, to the Viper."
Vetters Z06 ran a 12.42/114.24, bone stock. This
is comparable to a Viper, but the Hennessey tune would push Vetters
Z06, now a
