Corvette Racing’s
march toward the American Le Mans Series driver, team, and manufacturer’s
championships continued at both the august 5 Portland and august 19 Mosport
races. In both events, the Ron Fellows and Johnny O’Connell driven #3
GM Goodwrench Service Plus Corvette earned GTS class honors, bringing the
team’s total number of victories this year to six.
Mostly
because of budgetary constraints, but also because of the difficult logistics
involved in getting to three races in three weeks, the Portland race was not
originally on the calendar. After the july 22 Sears Point race, however, it
was announced that the final ALMS race of the year, scheduled for october
21 at Lowe’s Motor Speedway,
