As the first
twin turbo Z06 produced by LPE, the side decals say 550 horsepower. But on
the inside, the console badge reads 500 horsepower. Behan, who was helping
Lingenfelter prepare and race the car, explained, "The horsepower is
550, but we dont have a 550 center decal yet!"
The plan had been for the owner, Greg Kordix from New York, to
pick up his new twin turbo LS6 at the museum. When Kordix wasnt able
to make the trip, Lingenfelter showed and then raced the Corvette at Beech
Bend.
In his stiff British manner, Behan, who oversees this project,
gave us the technical details. "We do quite a bit more to the engine
than people realize. We take the LS6 out of the car, lower the compression
ratio, and modify the oil pan to receive the return feed from the scavenge
pump. We do a little bit of intake work - just a little porting around the
seat areas - to reduce the compression slightly. We change the camshaft
