LEFT: First, disconnect the battery, starting with the ground terminal, then the positive, because if you are using a metal wrench, like most of us, and you disconnect the positive first, there is a metal support rail next to the battery. If you accidentally touch this with the wrench with the ground still connected, you could damage your Corvette and possibly yourself.

BELOW LEFT: Next, remove the battery side cover. The first bolts we are going to remove, using a 7mm wrench, are on the bottom of the side rocker molding. You will only need to remove the first two.

   
There are quite a few ways to replace a C4 battery, but I am going to show you what I believe is the best way. Although it requires a few extra steps, this procedure will ensure that the side panels will not break. During the years these cars were made, the side panels were manufactured either out of sheet-molded compound or urethane. Both can break or tear when enough force is applied,
