"I loved the ’96 Grand Sport," John Caravaggio confesses. He adds, "My wife kept bugging me to buy one. To this day she wants one. But instead of buying a used one, I decided to take the Z06, which already has the red accents on the engine, and build a 2001 Grand Sport convertible."

John owns Caravaggio Corvettes in Woodbridge, Ontario, Canada, where he has been modifying Corvettes for nearly 20 years. Before the ‘86 convertible came out, he was custom building drop-top Corvettes. He also works with John Cafaro, the chief Corvette designer, on various aftermarket Corvette projects.

Cafaro liked the idea of creating a custom C5 Grand
