Next to Heyneman’s display was Paul Newman’s
Car Creations. One had to wonder why a vendor was in the Showcase area, but
Newman (not the actor) is the builder of the specially-modified C1 frame upon
which Heyneman’s ‘58 is based. Newman also displayed his new C2 chassis, although
there were no mid-years finished to date with the latest C2/C4 chassis.
Nearby,
we spotted another Showcase hybrid, a white ‘57 with a mirrored cove. As trick
as the 32-valve ZR1 V8 looked under the hood, the really big deal was the frame
and suspension, something you wouldn’t normally be able see. Right behind Hanna’s
special display was the frame he chose for his ‘57, a unique “space tube-frame”
from Automotive Design Center.
Left:
Ken Hanna, one of the Chevy/Vette Fest producers, built this '57 hybrid using
this space tube-frame from Automotive Design Center.
Below: On the horizon is this C2/C4 chassis
from Car Creations (3430 El Pomar Drive, www.carcreationsinc.com;
