While
the factory T-tops on my customized '76 coupe were functional, I wanted a
roof treatment that was different and distinctive, deciding that a Thompson
Astro Top would be the way to go. The Astro 1, designed for 1968-82 Corvette
coupes, is a lightweight, one-piece smoked acrylic replacement top that gives
you a transparent view of the sky. It's easy to install or remove. Our initial
installation took well under a half-hour, as detailed here.
Thompson
also has other models for 1984-96 Corvettes, T-tops for 1968-82 models, and
Astro Tops for 1997 and later Corvettes, too. The Thompson Astro 1 covers
both the driver and passenger sides and weighs less than one factory T-top.
