work was in order. The car was moved to his girlfriends mothers
garage, where a new suspension was installed and the engine rebuilt.
"When
I got the car back on the road," says Dennis, "I was amazed at the
difference in handling and power. I literally had to learn how to drive it
again."
With
the mechanicals under control, thoughts turned towards aesthetics. In early
1988, Dennis set the car once again in his future mother-in-laws driveway
and took the car apart.
"I
unbolted everything, chemically striped the paint, gutted the interior, and
removed the doors and glass." For the next 60 days the car was in the
hands of Dan Fellner, who gave the 67 its first repaint. Dan laid down
