In fact, Jerry Palmer, who preceded Cafaro as Chief Corvette
Designer, is still heavily involved with the C6. Designer types are real car
people. Cafaro admits to owning a Ferrari 308 and a 1965 Morgan sports car,
although Corvettes remain his favorite. He remembers going to the New York Worlds
Fair when he was a kid and seeing the Mako Shark, which he thought was the "ultimate
car and the ultimate machine." Today, John is "in and out of
C5s." So if anybody would have a Z06 convertible, rounding up the usual
suspects would include Cafaro. The C5 was his baby.
