A Z06 convertible is the one hole in the Corvette lineup, so some are "beating down the doors" to have them built. Their feeling is, if they can get to the right people at GM, they could have the assembly plant option the Z06 in the convertible body style. But so far, no such Corvette has been assembled at Bowling Green for public consumption, although former C5 Chief Designer, John Cafaro, does drive one, which, apparently, is precisely what a factory Z06 convertible would be.
    Today, Cafaro is the Executive Vehicle Chief Designer for full sized trucks. Tom Peters has taken over John’s job as Chief Corvette Designer, working on the new C6.
