Pushing the envelope with a new envelope is one way to describe Lingenfelter’s first body kit for C5 Corvettes. Jason Haines, an engineer at Lingenfelter in Decatur, Indiana, explains the primary reason for the new body kit is, "to create more down force at high speeds." This added down force is for a very good reason, as Haines told us what we already knew about Lingenfelter Performance Engineering: "We’ve got engine packages capable of doing well over 200 mph."
Lingenfelter’s 650-horse twin turbo, for example, can exceed 225 mph in a C5 with modified gearing. With their ultra high performance engine development, Lingenfelter needed a special body to plant a 200-plus mph C5 on the ground where it belongs.
