and the Mustangs at Daytona. Vic and #614 have been together on the vintage
racing scene since ‘87, when Vic Junior first raced the resurrected Z06 at the
Monterey Historics.
“A
lot has happened since then,” Vic laughed. I remember visiting with him in ‘87
as I photographed his coupe overlooking turn #6 at Laguna Seca. I thought he
was the racing expert of the world. Vic reflected on those early days when he
first imagined vintage racing was nothing more than parading. “We were very
naive. We found out it wasn’t just a parade, that you had to do things and prepare
your car accordingly.”
They’ve
come a long way, and so has vintage racing. HSR in december was Vic’s first
vintage race at Daytona. He explained, “The races we’ve been attending have
been centered on the West Coast.
