‘82, he fulfilled a life-long dream by purchasing a new Corvette. “I’ve always built custom things, mostly Harleys in the 1970s, and can’t leave anything alone. But I managed to leave the ’82 Corvette stock for about nine years and did absolutely nothing with it. My plan was to preserve it and in about 10 years show it as a new Corvette.”
    
But once Steve started showing the Corvette in the 1990s, he couldn’t leave it alone. During 1991-1999, the Corvette became a show car legend in South Florida. “From the time I first started showing the ‘82, I wanted to make it more exciting than what the factory gave me. Once in a while I would get someone to help with my ideas. More times than not, people would say, ‘If you want it, make it yourself. I don’t have time for you.’” So Fleming began creating and chroming his own show car pieces.
