changes
a 345-horsepower Corvette into a road-rocket pumping out 400 horsepower while
retaining the factory warranty.
Theresa
likes to drag race and wanted more power than stock to beat assorted C4s and
C5s. “When we go to events with drag racing, I like to make sure I have some
power so I can take off!”
And
take off she does. Launching the Mongoose at 2,000 rpm and shifting at about
6,000 rpm, Theresa has ripped through the quarter-mile with a best ET of 12.8
@ 111 mph. Zipping through the traps, she’s just hit third gear on the 6-speed
manual. She credits smooth shifting to the Corvette Concepts Speed Shifter,
smaller and lower profile than stock with a polished billet aluminum knob. “The
factory shifter was very tall, and it had that big knob, the big button thing.
I found it was very uncomfortable to shift.”
