In the process, Kirchhofer showcased his high-rpm LT5, modified by Jeff Jeal, a name that is popping up a lot these days under the hoods of assorted ZR1s. Jeal is one of two former Lotus engineers who continue to be actively involved with the DOHC LT5. (The other is Graham Behan at Lingenfelter Performance Engineering). Lotus, as you know, was the English company that designed the LT5 V8 for the ZR1 Corvette.

Kirchhofer, a seasoned drag racer, has become part of the Jeal story. "I’ve drag raced NHRA and IHRA modified production for a long time. The last Corvette I had was a ‘66 we ran in modified production. You run small displacement at high rpm." Right away, you can see the high rpm connection to the DOHC LT5.
