Apparently,
the instruction has been a big help for fun on road racing courses. Mike recalled,
"I had the pleasure of out-running three Vipers at the track at Homestead."
Mike
admits his clubs track time is far from racing. "Its not
a competition. They have very strict rules for safety. You cannot pass on
a turn, and if you want to pass, there are designated passing areas, usually
on the straightaway. The driver in front shows you where he wants you to pass
and he backs off. Usually, you come up on a car in a bunch of turns and hell
see you there and then hell wave you by."
Nonetheless,
at Homestead, Coppola was Top Gun. "Not one of them passed me, and I
passed them all." In addition to topping the V10 Vipers, nary a Porsche
or a Cobra or even another C5 Corvette did Coppola not leave behind in his
rear-view mirror.
