Prior to ordering his Mallett 435, Mike bought seat time and instruction at the Skip Barber Racing School at Sebring (in open wheeled Formula racers) and at Bragg Smith school (north of Las Vegas) in C5 Corvettes. The latter was a Level One driving school where the Corvettes are stock except for beefed-up brakes. Coppola felt he got more out of Skip Barber from a racing standpoint, but Bragg Smith was "interesting and helpful" for instruction to drive his C5. He plans a return trip for Level 2 where he anticipates 400 to 450 miles of track time.
