with every American-sponsored Corvette Le Mans entry showing up except the Bob Bondurant-driven 1967 Dana Corvette, which cancelled at the last minute.
    
Meanwhile, Friday night’s NCM Hall of Fame induction dinner was a direct tie-in. The NCM inducted Jerry Palmer (Corvette designer), along with late 1950s/early 1960s road racers Dr. Dick Thompson and John Fitch. Thompson and Fitch mixed with many other drivers over the weekend to give enthusiasts an opportunity to relive the golden era of Corvette racing. Other legendary drivers included Bob Johnson, Bud Gates, Jim Jeffords, Dick Guldstrand, and Tony DeLorenzo. In many cases, we got to talk to the driver, inspect the car he drove, and relive stories with the current owner and, in some cases, the original builder. A person could even rustle up one of the Corvette
   The first Grand Sport, #001, was one of the cars on display at the Concours d’Performance.
