then he decided to step up to Lingenfelter’s Stage II package. “It’s the man
thing,” he explained. “If you’ve got 500 horsepower, why not go for 650?”
Back
at LPE last fall, the engine was pulled for inspection and disassembly, then
balanced and blueprinted prior to Stage II reassembly with forged aluminum pistons,
forged steel crankshaft, and a custom LPE camshaft. The heads were also ported
and treated to a three-angle valve job and LPE valvetrain components. Put back
together with the twin turbos, the Stage II Lingenfelter C5 developed, as promised,
650 horsepower and 600 lb.ft. of torque.
