Of all the Corvette shows we’ve attended this year, Mid-America Designs’ ‘“Funfest 2000” was the corker. With 8,230 Corvettes and over 35,000 people, Mike Yager’s show is one of the largest in the country. When asked why the attendance was so great for the september 15-17 event, one man commented, “maybe it’s the ‘free’ word.”

He could be right. Yager and his staff of 125 employees and scores of volunteers charge nothing and then grill a free lunch for every person who registers a Corvette. But that’s not all. On Saturday night, Mid-America brought in a carnival and with it more free food, rides, and games. You walked up to the Ferris wheel and got a ticket for free. Want to throw darts at balloons? Go ahead and throw. Everything was free.

“This is our way of saying thanks to our customers,” Yager explained.
