Red with black guts is hard to beat in a solid axle Corvette. Now, try to
find that in a low-mileage Survivor. Next, try to find that in a Benchmark.
That’s what you’re seeing here in Steve Hendrickson’s ‘59.
Everybody
has a feel for the concept of a survivor. Basically, it’s an original and
unrestored car. The Survivor accolade is much more recognized, but in reality,
Benchmark is a higher standard of excellence. A Survivor, according to Bloomington
Gold, needs to be original in three of four categories: paint, interior, undercarriage,
and engine. By comparison, to rate Benchmark status, a Corvette must be original
in all four of the same categories and also score high enough to win Bloomington
Gold.
It’s
no wonder Steve Hendrickson jumped at the chance to buy this ‘59.
