owners, including the original buyer in California. As a bonus, the Corvette
was totally original and came with the honor of being the first ’57 fuel-injected
Corvette to win a Bloomington Gold on its first attempt, going on to win for
two years in a row in the mid-1980s before being purchased by the NYC collector.
The
subsequent 13 years of storage took its toll on the ’57, especially the seals
and engine. After Bernie’s purchase, the seals were replaced and the engine
was rebuilt. Years of buffing and waxing had also rubbed through much of the
original paint, so the Corvette was repainted in its original black and silver
colors. Then Bernie hit the show circuit, where the ’57 fuelie was perfect with
ten First Place awards in ten shows.
