“Basically,
Corvette fiberglass repair at most body shops is mired in the 1960s,” says
Chris Brand, co-owner of Classic Car Restoration and Service Center in Tarpon
Springs, Florida. “Most body men use Bondo, which is time consuming and not
exactly the ticket for fiberglass because it was designed more for filling
in dents and dings in metal.” So when Brand and his brother Jim partnered
with collector Al Wiseman to establish the Classic Car Restoration and Service
Center facility, the Brand brothers brought with them over 10 years of experience
in the boat industry, which taught them a thing or three about the latest
technology in fiberglass repair.
Corvette
restorations make up a large portion of the work at CCRSC, which comes as
no surprise because Wiseman specializes in Corvettes at his Classic Corvettes
and Collectibles business. During our visit to Tarpon
