Returning
from a short but quick drive, Wayne Davis is pumped by the laser-like performance
of his “C4” ‘54. The suspension is '95 Corvette C4 with 18 x 10-inch Centerlines
in the back and 17 x 9s in the front, which totally alters the character of
this C1. Power comes from a ‘68 Corvette 327 with dual quads. With this ‘54
build, Wayne has really pushed his talents to the limit to build a rolling
piece of art work in fiberglass, steel, and leather.
Davis,
who is president of Regency Conversions in Ft. Worth, Texas, has dreamed about
this car for years based on his affection for the first generation Corvette.
As a collector who considers the 1953-55 as the most classic and raciest looking
Corvette of all time, Davis regards the C1 as the one and only true roadster,
featuring side curtains in place of roll-up windows and a lift-off soft top.
But due to its 1950’s technology, the C1
