car’s
race history. He owned a landscaping business and had painted the body metallic
green, like a lawn. “The car was a regular knock-around driver with custom wheels
and a custom interior,” Kevin recalls. The owner didn’t know what he had. However,
he’d owned the vehicle since 1975 and had grown attached to it, also figuring
that the 425-horse 427, M22 4-speed, and 12-bolt Posi-traction made it a hot
muscle Corvette. For that reason, Kevin had to wait over five years to buy the
car.
Eventually the owner set a price - $40,000. So Kevin
assigned the vehicle to Marc Mehl, a well-known collector in New York who also
vintage races a ‘63 split window.
