Johnson.
One was Johnson’s first Corvette ride, the ‘66 black and yellow coupe you see
here, and the others were a pair of L88s, a ‘68 and a ‘69.
Mackay knew both Bergen and Johnson were from Marietta,
Ohio. In five minutes, Kevin tracked down Bergen’s phone number and rang him
up. “It was tough at the beginning,” Kevin explained. “He thought I was just
a tire kicker.”
Of course, Bergen no longer owned the Corvette, having
put the coupe back to near stock in 1968 so he could sell it when the new ‘68
L88 arrived. But, luckily, he had kept his original owner’s card with the VIN,
which was the piece of information Mackay needed to locate the car. He called
upon Corvette super-sleuth Dave Reisner, who tracked the car down. It was located
just 100 miles from Bergen’s home.

Corvette Museum Labor Day show this past year.
