Before this can be done, the program has to be set up for the vehicle to be checked. In most cases, this is a no-brainer because the program automatically scans the PCM for the VIN code. Once acquired, the VIN tells AutoTap the vehicle’s year and model, which it translates into the specific sensor inputs that can be displayed. Following this operation, the program checks for stored Diagnostic Trouble Codes and Freeze Frame data.
