With
the looms in place, we can now install the new plug wires. Some people like
to use the old plug wires as guides and replace them one by one in the cap.
I would rather route each wire individually because they are different lengths
and you can get a better fit. Also, who knows if the owner before you routed
the wires properly? If you have any doubts, the factory shop manual will definitely
help with this procedure. The longest wires will be 1, 3 and 2. Next 4, 5, 6.
Shortest are 7 and 8. The firing order is 1, 8, 4, 3, 6, 5, 7, 2 and it runs
clockwise from number one which is driver's side front. Here is a hint: #6 wire
has a straight boot. This is so it will fit along side of the EGR pipe. Remember
to hold the boot when you are connecting the spark plug wire on the spark plug.
Slide the boot down onto the spark plug and make sure the metal clip in the
boot attaches to the spark plug securely.
