Super Tuning
The L98

Part 2 of our step-by-step beginner’s guide

Text and photography by Greg Donahue

Okay, all you L98 newbes, listen up! Last week we began our L98 super tune by removing the ignition components, installing new plugs and rebuilding the HEI distributor. From here we’re going to install new plug wires and clean up the throttle body and injectors.

The last thing we’ll do is make this rejuvenated L98 look as good as it runs by repainting the plenum and coil cover.

Install the spark plug wire retaining looms. These are two-piece looms. The half that connects to the metal retainers holds the spark plug wire. The other half locks the wire into place.
