coming on-line as the years progressed. Most notable among these was the introduction of the Rochester Ramjet fuel injection system made available with the 283 small-block in 1957. Still, it wasn’t until 1963, when the Corvette received its first "remake" that the fire stoked to a blaze.
   To remove itself from the Fifties-era styling, Zora Duntov and company refashioned the 1963 Corvette into what many feel is the model’s quintessential form. The shorter, lower and crisper bodystyle proved to be a striking departure from the soft and rounded design of the previous decade. To compliment the more nimble appearance, the streamlined roadster, with its four-inch shorter wheelbase, received its first independent rear suspension, a welcome departure from the solid-axle configuration of earlier models.
