
The 1963 model year proved to be a grand milestone in the evolution of the Corvette. From its 1953 introduction as a sporty, if somewhat anemic, roadster, Americas first true production sportscar remained relatively unchanged throughout the ensuing decade. The introduction of the 265 cid V8 in 1955 and a four-speed manual tranny in 1957 rescued the Vette from a questionable future.
